Teocalli de La Guerra Sagrada
Dublin Core
Title
Teocalli de La Guerra Sagrada
Subject
Aztec Art
Description
Monolithic Sculpture imitating the form of an Aztec Temple. Glyphs and relief images on the sculpture indicate that it is emblematic of the authority maintained by the Aztec Imperial institution over both the physical state and the larger cosmological universe of both humanity and the Gods, with a central focus on the role of the Aztecs in maintaining the sun, all of which are consolidated and harnessed through military prowess and human sacrifice.
